WINNER OF 3 LITERARY AWARDS
September 14, 2020 – Acclaimed artist Susie Frazier’s book Designing For Wellness (2018, BookBaby), received nonfiction honors from three different internationally recognized literary award competitions. The first-time author’s self-published title earned an International Book Award (winner in the Home & Garden category), a Living Now Book Award (silver award in the Meditation/Relaxation category), and a Global eBook Award (silver award in the Inspirational/Visionary category).
Announcements from the respective award web sites indicated the number of titles submitted this year was exceptionally high. For the International Book Awards, over 2000 entries were received from independent authors and mainstream publishers around the world, with Designing For Wellness being one of only 92 titles that won. The Living Now Book Awards celebrate newly published books that enhance the quality of our lives, highlighting titles that cover health, home & family, and personal development—all topics thought to be the fastest-growing segments in book publishing. The Global eBook Awards recognize the best in electronically published books from all around the world. The digital format of Frazier’s book (available only on Apple Books) is different from typical eBooks because it provides interactive full-screen photography, short videos, and audio narration by Frazier, providing an immersive experience that generic eBooks don’t offer.
With over 41 million people in the United States living with anxiety and 51% of employed Americans now working from home, Frazier’s book comes at a time when individuals need tools for curating their home environment to be more restorative for their minds. Designing For Wellness delivers practical suggestions to make any living and workspace peaceful and positive, giving readers useful ideas on connecting with nature and adopting a healthier lifestyle. Frazier, who lived with undiagnosed ADHD and generalized anxiety until 2017, developed her own methodology, rooted in biophilia, for enhancing spaces in ways that ease the overstimulated brain.
The dynamic eBook version of Designing For Wellness was made possible through Frazier’s collaboration with Chris Woodman, an award-winning graphic designer, publisher, and educator. Mr. Woodman is also an Apple Certified software expert, which made him a valuable asset while working at Apple for over six years, where he facilitated over 300 workshops and trained over 1000 customers and employees. With six published books on Apple software and photography, Mr. Woodman converted Frazier’s hard-cover book into a high-resolution, immersive experience made specifically for Apple devices.
