Designing For Wellness® Project - Bun Moss Green Wall

The difference between biophilic art and a bunch of green stuff attached to a wall is a deep understanding of nature’s fractals as they disperse. There’s plenty of research behind the nuances of natural patterns as effective tools for reducing physiological stress, but only if the composition falls into the preferred density range for humans. Turns out, too much density over an entire space can have the opposite effect of increasing the stress response by almost 13%. (the source of this research is referenced in this Business Insider article.)

Inside the Susie Frazier showroom, I used to shows clients the many ways wellness design features can be integrated into the built environment. This particular project was installed directly onto the wall using authentic, dried bun moss. I tested the materials, watched how they performed in a public place, and then later integrated these materials into a larger Designing For Wellness® project for Squire Patton Boggs.
